A number of Ukrainian media outlets report that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, during a meeting with journalists, spoke about the Ministry of Defense's plans to expand partnerships with allies regarding joint weapons production.
According to Censor, joint ventures should solve the following tasks:
He said that currently there are 21 initiatives to localize production in Ukraine with the world's largest arms manufacturers, and up to ten projects abroad. "All are at different stages - somewhere there are already specific agreements, somewhere still at the negotiation stage. We are talking about Denmark, Britain, Norway, and so on. For example, we are already planning to open a Ukrainian factory in Denmark in the coming months," Umerov is quoted as saying by lb.
According to the minister, some changes to the legislation are needed to simplify and normalize these procedures, as well as attract investments from partner countries.
"We have already registered the relevant law in parliament, and we hope that it will come into effect by September," the minister said.
Rustem Umerov added that the partners' production, which is localized in Ukraine, should be maximally protected by air defense systems and be located in the safest regions for production. According to Umerov, there are already several ready-made productions with German companies that should provide the Defense Forces with new armored personnel carriers, artillery shells and other types of ammunition.
Regarding Ukrainian enterprises that will operate on the territory of other states, the head of the Ministry of Defense reported on Great Britain's plans to allow Ukrainian gunsmiths to carry out their work on the territory of their state.
Earlier, the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace announced plans to expand the production of missiles for air defense systems in February. To implement these goals, the Norwegian concern opened its office in Ukraine last week.
France has already announced the joint production of drones in Ukraine for the needs of both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the French army.
As a reminder, the United States, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Ukraine are developing a self-guided anti-ship missile-bomb with a range of 453 km for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
