Ukraine Stops Publishing Exact Number of Missiles Fired by Russia Due to Air Defense Shortage — Bloomberg
The Ukrainian Air Force has changed its approach to publishing daily statistics on repelled air attacks. Now the military does not disclose the exact number of missiles launched by Russia, including ballistic missiles, so as not to provide the enemy with information about the state of exhaustion of Ukrainian air defenses.
This is reported by Bloomberg, citing its own informed sources.
According to the publication, the change in reporting format is a forced security measure in response to the intensification of Russian strikes. As an example, the journalists cite one of the recent reports: The Air Force indicated the number of drones shot down (98 out of 120), but omitted data on the missiles fired. This happened shortly after a massive attack, during which, according to Bloomberg, Ukrainian forces, due to a lack of interceptors, failed to stop any of the 28 ballistic missiles fired.
Ukraine is currently experiencing an acute shortage of air defense assets, especially missiles for American Patriot systems, amid growing global demand due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, a Ukrainian military expert in radio technologies and communications and recently a freelance advisor to the President of Ukraine on the development of technological areas of defense, commented on the change in information policy. In his opinion, such a decision has both positive and negative sides.
"On the one hand, ordinary people do not need this information. Also, this information helps the enemy understand how we are doing with missiles. This information helps the enemy's bots to form treason," the expert noted.
At the same time, he added that Russia already knows where its missiles are flying. Instead, public communication was an important tool. “But public communication shows the whole world our problems. And shows the population that it is not the fault of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but simply a lack of resources,” Flesh summarized.
