Ukrainian Armed Forces are testing heavy aerial drones to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield
The Ukrainian military is testing heavy multicopters capable of lifting a person into the sky. Air evacuation is being considered as an alternative to ground-based robotic complexes, which are not always effective in conditions of active combat.
The Ukrainian military is testing heavy multicopters capable of lifting a person into the sky. Air evacuation is being considered as an alternative to ground-based robotic complexes, which are not always effective in conditions of active combat.
The new type of evacuation is reported by the publication "Military", citing journalist Yulia Kiriyenko.
The introduction of such drones could radically change the medical care system on the front, especially where traditional evacuation has become too dangerous. The aircraft will allow for the rapid evacuation of the wounded from under fire, when the use of ground-based unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is complicated by their low speed and vulnerability to enemy FPV drones.
Successful use of multicopters in real-world conditions requires not only high operator qualifications, but also special attention to protecting the capsule with the wounded and covering the drone itself from damage by Russian FPVs during flight.
"I hope we will soon see successful air evacuation missions from the LBZ," the message states.
Currently, the Ukrainian military is increasingly using ground-based drones to evacuate the wounded from the front line. Recently, the Third Army Corps shared information about the evacuation of a 77-year-old woman from a dangerous area using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
