Ukrainian military officer criticizes The Economist article about controlling "shaheeds" via Telegram
Radio technology specialist, military engineer and engineer Sergey "Flash" Bezkrestnov stated that the "shaheeds", as before, fly based on satellite navigation signals and do not use Telegram for flights.
Radio technology specialist, military engineer and engineer Sergey "Flash" Bezkrestnov stated that the "shaheeds", as before, fly based on satellite navigation signals and do not use Telegram for flights.
The expert refuted a number of claims published in The Economist regarding the principles of operation of the Shahed drones, which Russia uses in the war against Ukraine. In particular, the publication claimed, citing Ukrainian officials, that the Russians are using the latest models of drones that are not affected by the Ukrainian electronic warfare system because the drones no longer rely on GPS, are guided by artificial intelligence and use the Internet of Ukrainian mobile operators.
As noted by the expert, Sergey Bezkrestnov, the "shaheeds" remain autonomous drones guided by satellite navigation signals, and electronic warfare continues to effectively influence them.
"Shaheeds" are not controlled in flight via Telegram and do not send video broadcasts anywhere via Ukrainian mobile networks.
They don't have artificial intelligence inside.

No one has ever found a single note from Alabuga from "friends of engineers from the Russian Federation."
"It's a pity that an authoritative publication writes incorrect information," the military engineer said in his Telegram channel.
The only thing that really corresponds to reality is the presence of trackers with SIM cards on some drones that transmit basic telemetry: coordinates, speed and flight altitude via mobile communication to a Telegram bot. SIM cards can be Ukrainian, Russian or international, and they are found in large numbers in the wreckage.
“We understand these mechanisms anddo not allow drones to use Ukrainian mobile networks for data transmission. Once again, Shaheds are not remotely controlled, they do not have such functionality, they are simply trying to transmit their location,” emphasizes Serhiy “Flash.”
The existence of a note from a Russian engineer, who allegedly informed the Ukrainian side about the new know-how of the "shaheeds", was also questioned by Oleksandr Fedienko, a People's Deputy and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, calling this information conspiratorial.
