The range of Ukrainian drones with fiber optics increased to 40 km in three months — Fedorov
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that Ukrainian manufacturers of fiber-optic drones have created FPV drones with a range of over 40 km.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that Ukrainian manufacturers of fiber-optic drones have created FPV drones with a range of over 40 km.
"Three months ago, we tested drones on fiber optics with a range of up to 20 km. Today, these are solutions capable of hitting enemy targets at a distance of more than 40 km," said Fedorov.
He added that this is the result of feedback from the military, unique solutions from developers, and support from Brave1.
In April, the Brave1 defense technology cluster conducted a large-scale test of fiber-optic FPV drones : more than 15 UAV manufacturers tested their products at a training ground, where they covered a route over 20 km long with obstacles and simulated an approach to a target. At that time, it was noted that previously the range of Ukrainian fiber-optic drones reached 5-10 km.
In the winter of 2025, a dev.ua journalist visited the 3DTech training ground and saw with his own eyes how the company was testing advanced fiber-optic drones. At the time, the developers noted that their goal was to create a fiber-optic drone that would fly a distance of 40 km.
According to Mikhail Fedorov, now, attacks at depths of more than 40 km will become the new norm for fiber-optic drones.
