A Ukrainian IT professional has developed his own local tool for calculating taxes for individual entrepreneurs of group 3

Senior Software Engineer Pavlo Savchuk developed an open-source application to automate tax calculations and filing declarations for group 3 individual entrepreneurs using Monobank. The tool is designed with privacy in mind: it runs locally on the user's device and stores all data in encrypted form.

Why was there a need for our own solution?

According to the developer, for the past five years he has been filing declarations manually in order to have full control over the process. When the idea arose to simplify this routine, the alternatives available on the market did not suit him.

"I immediately skipped AI automation, because I don't trust other people's decisions when it comes to my money and taxes. Other applications were either too overloaded for my case (accounting, invoices, CRM, 100 more functions) or simply inconvenient. So I made a very simple app, FOR MYSELF," Pavlo Savchuk shares in his post on LinkedIn.

How the app works

The main idea of the project is maximum simplicity and narrow focus on the combination of Monobank + FOP 3 group:

  • Data import: the user selects the desired account and reporting period, after which the application automatically extracts receipts using the Monobank API.
  • Income selection: the user independently marks which transactions are taxable income.
  • Accurate calculation: the application recalculates foreign exchange receipts at the NBU exchange rate at the time of their receipt, using a precisely defined rounding type (Decimal with the ROUND_HALF_UP algorithm).
  • Declaration prompts: the tool calculates the amounts to be paid (Single Tax, Military Duty, Social Security) with due dates and generates prompts for filling out the official declaration (form F0103309).

At the same time, the application is only an assistant: it does not send anything to the tax office and does not make automatic payments, leaving the final control to the user.

Privacy and open source

The developer paid special attention to the security and privacy of personal data. All data is stored exclusively on the user's computer in encrypted form, and the application itself does not have a third-party backend.

“I’m making it for myself, so it will definitely be supported as long as I’m an individual entrepreneur. A separate point about security: the application has basic protection so that your data cannot be stolen super easily. The data is stored locally and encrypted. But don’t take my word for it, the code is publicly available,” the engineer notes.

How to use the tool

The project is distributed as open source software on GitHub . Since the application was developed “for myself”, basic technical skills are required to run it.

  • Technical requirements: Python 3.12+, uv package manager, Node.js, and a personal Monobank API token installed.

  • Quick start: download dependencies (uv sync, npm install), build the web interface (npm run build), set up the .env configuration file, and run it via the uv run mono-it-tax command.

"I don't count on any popularity of this application, I created it only for myself. If someone is in the same situation as me and it will be useful - use it. If you find any vulnerability or want to add something (small) - write to me, I will be glad," adds Pavlo.

The developer also emphasizes that the application is only an auxiliary tool, not legal or tax advice, so users should check the final figures and declarations independently or with an accountant.
