Ukrainian watch company ZAVOD has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for its new project, the automatic field watch "General." The model has already aroused considerable interest among backers from around the world: instead of the planned $5,000, the campaign has raised over $69,000, exceeding the initial goal by almost 14 times.

Ukrainian ZAVOD was founded in 2010 and produces niche watches, eyewear, and accessories. The company already has successfully implemented watch projects on Kickstarter: RIDER1991 in 2017 and REAL TIME in 2023.
“The idea was born in the first months of the full-scale invasion, when every Ukrainian was faced with a choice. Volunteers. Medics. Engineers. Civilians. Military. The name came after a landmark article by General Valery Zaluzhny, published in TIME magazine. In our eyes, anyone who stands up for their country, their values, or their people is a General. ‘General’ is not a title. It’s a special mindset. It’s the ability to act under pressure. To defend what matters. To take responsibility when others hesitate,” the team explains the idea of the watch.
However, the team emphasizes that they were not creating a watch about war. Instead, they sought to embody the strength of character forged in real-life circumstances.
The main goal of the creators was not just to copy the military style, but to rethink its key principles: clarity of purpose, constructive honesty, and efficiency under any conditions. "General" is not an ordinary field watch, but a Ukrainian accessory for the brave.
Built to withstand the rigors of real-world conditions, this watch combines a steel case with a water resistance of 200 meters, a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and the time-tested Miyota 9015 automatic movement. High readability is ensured by applied luminescent markers, Super-LumiNova-coated hands, and a textured dial designed for quick reading in all conditions. Inspired by modern tactical aesthetics, the model combines tactical functionality, disciplined minimalism, mechanical reliability, and uncompromising material strength.
The octagonal body subtly replicates the structured geometry of FPV drone frames—compact, stable, and functional. It’s made from 316L stainless steel and sandblasted to reduce glare and minimize visible signs of wear over time.
The dial is designed for quick reading of information: a clear minute scale and balanced visual hierarchy allow for instant orientation in any lighting.
The General collection consists of four basic models and two limited editions. Each model reflects a different landscape, setting, and mood, but they all share the same design foundation: durability, clarity, and mechanical reliability.
"Color solutions are based on the characteristics of the landscape and national identity, rather than on changing trends. Along with classic tactical shades, we turned to the visual language of pixel camouflage, the signal orange color of rescue services, and the modern identity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the team adds.
The cheapest price of the watch is $415, and the most expensive is $975. More than 130 backers have already shown interest in the "General".
