Ukrainian Maksym Gorbachev introduced a browser extension called Lume, which helps users avoid fake discounts and find the best deals in online stores. The tool automatically plots the price changes of goods directly on the pages of Rozetka, Comfy, Epicenter, and other retailers, offering cheaper alternatives.
The developer spoke about the launch and features of the project on the Reddit platform. According to him, as of May 2026, the service’s database already includes over 26,000 price points in more than 70 stores, including global giants Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, and key Ukrainian marketplaces.
The technical part of Lume is built on the Chrome Extension MV3 stack, FastAPI, and SQLite. In addition to the extension itself, the developer has launched a Telegram bot that monitors the price of selected products every 30 minutes and sends notifications when the price drops to the target mark.
According to Maxim Gorbachev, Lume allows you to immediately see whether the discount is real or whether the price was intentionally inflated before the start of the promotion. The extension also automatically searches for identical products in other stores to show the user the best price.
The extension works with any marketplace that uses structured data (JSON-LD, Open Graph, or Microdata). To ensure speed, price comparison results are cached for 24 hours. The algorithm shows the best accuracy in the electronics and home appliances categories, where models are clearly labeled.
The developer emphasizes privacy and transparency: Lume is open source, does not require registration, and does not collect personal data, cookies, or user passwords. The product is currently completely free and ad-free. The extension is already available for installation in the Chrome Web Store .
