EU Digital Identity Wallets
EU Digital Identity Wallets (EUDI Wallet for short) is a digital platform designed to enable citizens and businesses in the European Union to store and verify identity data, access services and make transactions between EU member states. The platform contains legal credentials issued by EU governments.
The wallet will allow users to access online services, store and share digital documents, and create signatures.
The main goal of EUDI Wallet is to simplify digital identity verification processes and make them secure, reliable, and user-centric.
“The EU Digital Identity Wallets are the European Union’s response to the challenges of digital identity. In the next few years, each EU Member State will offer its own wallet app, built to the same specifications, for all citizens, residents and businesses. Each wallet version will be compatible and will work wherever you are in Europe,” the European Commission website says .
EUDI Wallet for Ukrainians
"The Action team, together with the Ministry of Digital Affairs, successfully tested their compatibility with European digital wallets in accordance with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation — a single digital standard for European Union countries," the Ministry of Digital Affairs reports .
Thus, in 2026, Ukrainians will use digital documents abroad instead of paper copies or plastic cards. Various documents and services will be available in the European e-wallet, for example:
identity verification for online government services;
electronic driver's license;
SIM card registration;
opening bank accounts;
electronic signature;
electronic recipes.
"Thus, a single digital space is gradually being formed in Europe, and Ukraine should become part of it," the ministry noted.
The EU has launched the OpenEuroLLM AI alliance, which wants to create European alternatives to artificial intelligence models from American and Chinese companies.
