This was reported by sources in the SBU to «Social». The special operation was carried out at a distance of more than two thousand kilometers from the territory of Ukraine. The hit tanker QENDIL was used by Russia to circumvent sanctions, so the SBU considers it a completely legitimate target.
According to activist, blogger, and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, the multi-stage special operation was carried out by fighters from the «Alpha» unit of the SBU.
At the time of the special operation, the Russian ship was not carrying any cargo, so the attack did not pose any threat to the environmental situation in the region. QENDIL received critical damage and can no longer be used for its intended purpose.
Earlier, the Defense Forces launched their first strike against Russian facilities in the Caspian Sea. They damaged an oil production platform of the Russian company Lukoil.
In late November, the SBU’s Sea Baby naval drones struck two Russian tankers from the «shadow fleet» in the Black Sea. On December 10, Sea Baby struck another Russian tanker, the Dashan, which could carry about $60 million worth of petroleum products in a single voyage.
This week, the Security Service of Ukraine also conducted a special operation in the port of Novorossiysk and struck a Russian Varshavyanka-class submarine using underwater drones.
