The national postal operator Ukrposhta has officially entered the market of post offices. The first 70 self-service terminals have already been put into operation in Kyiv. This was announced by the company's CEO Igor Smilyansky.
The main innovation was the ability to independently manage the route of parcels, including international orders from platforms such as AliExpress or Temu.
If the shipment is still in transit and has not arrived at the final branch, the client can redirect the parcel to a post office or another branch free of charge, change the recipient's name, and extend the storage period.
If the parcel is already waiting at the branch, the forwarding service is also available, but will be carried out at the standard rate.
The free storage period for the parcel at the post office will be up to 7 days. If the customer does not pick it up during this time, the shipment will be automatically moved to the nearest stationary branch.
Igor Smilyanskyi clarified that in the first few weeks of the service's operation, only prepaid orders will be delivered to post offices. The function of paying for delivery directly in the mobile application is promised to be added in the near future.
Also, the shipment management functionality is already available for corporate clients who work via the API, and will later appear in the personal account.
The head of Ukrposhta announced the global digitalization of processes: the company is finally abandoning paper applications for forwarding.
"We will leave this redirection option for a couple of weeks — so to speak, a transitional retro style. After that, we will cancel all applications in branches, transfer everything to the application and reduce queues," Smilyansky emphasized.
In a few weeks, another 30 ATMs will be operational in Odessa, and by the end of the year, Ukrposhta expects to install over 1,000 terminals across the country. The technical partners of the project were Ukrainian companies: equipment manufacturer Modern Expo and software developer UIS.
