The company informed the publication «Military» about this. Similar delivery using drones is already being tested in Switzerland, the USA, and the UAE for the transportation of biomaterials and medicines.
«Here we have a head start in qualified crews and war-tested technologies. And again, having confirmed cases of work in Ukraine on hand, it is easier to clearly demonstrate capabilities to foreign companies», said Ukrspecsystems.
The company noted that they consider the experiment with the «Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» as preparation for the next stage of development.
«After the war, part of the production capacity can be reoriented to peaceful tasks — medical logistics, humanitarian operations, monitoring of critical infrastructure. This demand already exists: we are receiving requests from European partners who are studying the possibility of using PD-2 drones in civilian missions», Ukrspecsystems indicated.
PD-2 can take off and land vertically and has a flight range of 800 km. This makes it available for use in most medical institutions in Ukraine. The organ is transported in a special thermal box, which was developed by specialists from the Heart Institute.
Ukrspecsystems reported that in previous tests, a pig’s heart was lifted into the sky for 4 hours, and after landing all the necessary tests were performed. They showed that the PD-2 drone can safely transport organs.
Previously, the Ukrainian company Screenek, which produces drone bombers, which the Russians call «Baba Yaga», conducted test flights to deliver medicines and organs for transplantation. The UAVs were piloted by Ukrainian military personnel from Lasar’s Group.
