The government has simplified the procurement of drones and electronic warfare, giving more autonomy to military units. How will this work in practice?
As reported by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an important resolution that puts the procurement of domestically produced unmanned systems and electronic warfare (EW) equipment on a permanent basis.
As reported by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an important resolution that puts the procurement of domestically produced unmanned systems and electronic warfare (EW) equipment on a permanent basis.
«This decision means stability, consistency, and predictability for all participants in the process,» he noted .
This involves simplifying procedures. In particular, commanders of military units can purchase drones and tactical-level electronic warfare without unnecessary bureaucratic approvals from the General Staff and other military management bodies.
Military units can also join agreements concluded by the procurement agencies of the Ministry of Defense and the State Service for Special Communications, which will allow them to receive equipment faster and at competitive prices.
«This solution not only ensures efficiency in supplying the necessary technologies to the front, but also supports Ukrainian manufacturers, giving them the opportunity for stable development and improvement of products,» the official noted.
From now on, according to Umerov, the military will be able to plan their needs more effectively, and manufacturers will be able to focus on technological development and scaling up production.
«It really works, it really exists.» The Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces reported that Ukraine already has a laser weapon called the Trident, which can shoot down enemy aircraft and is being actively improved.
