Unwave has completed the first government order to scale up the Octopus interceptor drone project for the needs of the Defense Forces in cooperation with the Defense Procurement Agency.
As the manufacturer’s press service told dev.ua, the company received a license to scale up interceptors at the end of December 2025, and fulfilled the first contract with the Unwave military unit on March 30, 2026.
Meanwhile, on June 10, the company completed the first government order within the framework of the cooperation.
«Only a few months passed from obtaining a license for scaling up to the execution of the first state contract… Our task in the future is to increase production capabilities as quickly as possible and provide the Defense Forces with effective tools to protect the Ukrainian sky,» noted Yuriy Shelmuk, founder and co-owner of Unwave.
Recall that Octopus is an interceptor drone designed to counter Shahed-type strike drones and other aerial targets. With a speed of over 300 km/h, the ability to operate at altitudes of up to 5,000 m, and machine vision technologies, it can automatically capture and accompany a target during the final stage of interception.
The complex is also resistant to electronic warfare (EW): the automatic guidance mode minimizes dependence on external control and allows it to operate effectively even in conditions of active electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures.
Founded in 2023, Unwave primarily specializes in the production of electronic warfare equipment.
In November last year, the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Britain signed a license agreement for the production of the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone.
The Ministry of Defense has ordered 8,000 Octopus interceptors from four manufacturers. How many companies are involved in the production of these drones?
