Semenova spoke about this on the UT-2 podcast.
«Yes, we are working now. We didn’t do it for this academic year, but we have this project in the works — the UAV faculty is separate, because it occupies such a good piece [of the market],» said the rector of KAI.
Ksenia Semenova noted that at first she was a little resistant to such a decision, because a UAV is a whole complex with communications and electronics. But she admitted that this is a market trend and said that opening a separate faculty for the field of drone construction is partly a marketing decision.
Last year, KAI held a recruitment for the course " Engineering of Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Complexes " to train UAV mechanical engineers. It was noted that the average monthly income of such a specialist in Ukraine started at 50,000 hryvnias.
We will remind that at the end of August, the Supervisory Board of the Kyiv Aviation Institute (formerly NAU) elected the president of the university from 8 candidates for this position. KAI will be headed by Ksenia Semenova, who has been acting rector of the university since April 10, 2024.
