Ukraine has created a modular remote-controlled electronic warfare system against Mavics. How the new DF-3 solution works
The system’s architecture allows it to be integrated with third-party detection means — anti-drone radars and electronic intelligence means — to precisely target EW means at the detected target at precisely those frequencies that need to be suppressed.
The system’s architecture allows it to be integrated with third-party detection means — anti-drone radars and electronic intelligence means — to precisely target EW means at the detected target at precisely those frequencies that need to be suppressed.
The Ukrainian company Piranha Tech demonstrated the modular, remotely controlled DF-3 electronic warfare system to counter the Mavic UAV at the Technological Forces of Ukraine forum.
According to Anatoly Khrapchinsky, deputy director of Piranha Tech, the DF-3 system was created to counter enemy reconnaissance UAVs. Currently, this system is working against Mavics, which pose the greatest threat on the front lines, writes Militarny.
It is stated that in this form, the system allows it to operate up to a kilometer from the main positions. This allows for the protection of positions so that an enemy drone cannot «reset» or conduct reconnaissance.
The system operates on remote control, the main console is located in the command post and can be controlled from any point. The rotating mechanism allows you to remotely point the antennas 360 degrees horizontally and vertically.
«We are talking about creating a certain sector where the frequency range we need overlaps. Remotely, without the participation of personnel, that is, you don’t have to run out and turn the antenna in order to work on the target that we have detected,» he explains.
The system is built on a modular principle: this allows you to flexibly adjust the protection configuration by replacing antenna types and varying their number.
According to the deputy director, in the future it is planned to combine all the company’s electronic warfare systems, which will operate in a single software, ensuring the overlap of certain sectors on the battlefield.
«We can build a tactical, operational-tactical and strategic level that allows us to work at different distances, depending on the threat. Because there are systems that work at 20 kilometers, there are systems that work at 15 kilometers, there are systems that work from 3 to 5 kilometers,» he said.
