Law enforcement officers from Ukraine and Germany exposed two members of the hacker group and identified its organizer, who was announced ininternational wanted. This criminal group, linked to the Russian Federation, is one of the most dangerous in the field of cybercrime in recent years, according to foreign law enforcement officers. Hackers attacked hundreds of organizations in different countries of the world, causing losses of hundreds of millions of euros, during 2022-2025.
As part of an international investigation , two participants were identified who lived in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions, the cyber police reported.
According to the investigation, the suspects specialized in technical hacking of protected systems and were involved in preparing cyberattacks using ransomware. They performed the functions of so-called hash crackers - individuals who specialize in extracting passwords to accounts from information systems using specialized software.
Hackers used stolen passwords from company employees to infiltrate corporate systems, gradually taking full control of the network. This allowed them to disable critical infrastructure, steal data, and activate ransomware to further demand ransom for decryption.
As part of a joint investigation with the participation of Europol specialists, the alleged organizer of the criminal activity was also identified - a Russian citizen, who is suspected of creating and leading the group.
According to foreign partners, he may also have been involved in the activities of another well-known ransomware group, Conti. The suspect has been placed on the international wanted list through Interpol channels.
The investigative actions were carried out within the framework of international cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
