A cyber resilience project office has been launched in Ukraine. Cybersecurity projects can be submitted for consideration by international donors

On May 27, the project office of the so-called Tallinn Mechanism, which will be responsible for coordinating donor support to ensure Ukraine’s cyber resilience, began operating in Kyiv.

«The opening of a project office in Kyiv is designed to strengthen coordination between partners and ensure stable, long-term support for Ukraine’s digital security,» said Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeria Ionan, quoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As noted, the initiator of the creation of TMPO was the Ministry of Digital Affairs, and the office itself will fruitfully cooperate with the State Service for Special Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Security Committee.

At the same time, support for the functioning of a special catalog has been identified among the key areas of TMPO’s work.

«This is an online platform that simplifies interaction between donors and Ukrainian institutions. Using the catalog, recipients submit cybersecurity projects, and international donors select the most relevant initiatives for them and support them,» the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

It was also noted at the opening of the office that the institution will promote the involvement of the private sector (Ukrainian and international cyber companies) in the implementation of relevant projects.

The Tallinn Mechanism was launched in 2023 as an international response to cyber threats and Russian aggression. The initiative includes 11 countries.

Interestingly, according to data as of the end of 2024, in the top three IT specialties by the number of first-year students, «Cybersecurity» replaced «Automation», which dropped to 5th place.

In particular, a new laboratory for training cybersecurity specialists was opened at KPI.
