Veterans can learn Embedded Development and Computer Vision for free: how to participate in the Beetroot Academy program

Beetroot Academy, as part of the Empower Ukraine project, is opening 10 free places for veterans across Ukraine. Participants can choose one of two programs — Embedded Development or Computer Vision.
Both programs are conducted remotely, allowing veterans from any region of the country to participate:
Embedded Development is an engineering program for technical professionals who want to move from software to full-cycle hardware development. Participants will learn microcontrollers, data protocols, RTOS, and circuit design, and will complete the program with a final project with a ready-made portfolio. Stack: C/C++, FreeRTOS, GDB, OpenOCD, UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, BLE, LoRa.
Computer Vision is a mini-program for technical specialists without an ML background. In 6 lessons, participants will go all the way from basic image processing to launching their own object detector. Tools: OpenCV, PyTorch, YOLOv8, Roboflow, ONNX. No previous experience in ML is required - a year of programming in any language is enough.
Candidates for the program must have veteran status and a technical background. The training group and specific direction are selected individually after consideration of the application.
"Embedded engineering and computer vision are areas where there are currently fewer qualified specialists in Ukraine than the market needs. Veterans who have a technical background can enter this field faster than it seems. We want to make this step accessible," comments Andreas Flodström, CEO of Beetroot Academy.
