45% of Ukrainians have not changed jobs in a year, and every third one does not work at all. What a Viber survey of 18,000 people showed
Rakuten Viber surveyed over 18,000 Ukrainians about changes in the labor market. The results are almost the same as a similar study in 2024 — the market has stagnated.
Rakuten Viber surveyed over 18,000 Ukrainians about changes in the labor market. The results are almost the same as a similar study in 2024 — the market has stagnated.
The most common answer to the question «have you changed jobs in the last year?» is «no.» 45% of respondents continue to work in the same place and do not plan to change anything. Another 9% remain in the same place, but are already thinking about changing — that is, in total, more than half of employed Ukrainians have not moved on the labor market during the year.
At the same time, 30% of respondents are unemployed. Of these, 19% were unemployed neither a year ago nor now, and 11% lost their jobs in the past 12 months. Only 3% changed jobs forcibly — due to layoffs or company closures. 10% left on their own, of their own free will.
It is significant that the figures have hardly changed compared to March 2024, when Viber conducted a similar survey. The share of those who are unemployed has decreased by two percentage points, voluntary transfers have increased slightly — but the overall picture is stable. The labor market in Ukraine is actually frozen.
In the second part of the survey, Viber found out whether Ukrainians have additional sources of income. The answer is mostly unambiguous: 65% live only on the salary from their main job. 15% have a part-time job, 10% work two or more jobs. 7% have passive income, and only 3% develop their own business.
The study was conducted in the format of an anonymous online survey on the Rakuten Viber Ukraine channel. More than 18,000 users participated. More than half of the respondents were under 45 years old, the key group was 34–45 years old.
