"Video games are part of our culture." France to launch its own international gaming festival at Macron's initiative

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that video games have become one of the main forms of creativity in our time and announced the creation of a large-scale international gaming festival. The event is intended to bring together gamers, developers and innovators from around the world.

The Clash Report portal reports on the French leader's relevant intentions.

According to Macron, the modern gaming industry is a unique creative field that has formed at the intersection of visual art, literature, music, design and high technology. In his opinion, games deserve the same treatment from the state as cinema or classical art.

"I firmly believe that video games are an integral part of our culture. Therefore, they should become part of the French policy of "cultural exception" (a system of protection and support for national cultural products - ed.), just as we have already done with cinema and other forms of creativity," the president emphasized.

To cement this status at the national level, France is planning to establish a new international video game festival. According to the initiators, the event will be shaped from the very beginning as a global platform for demonstrating innovations, uniting representatives of the virtual entertainment industry with the creative community.

The French gaming industry traditionally holds a significant place in the global market. Last year, the most prestigious award in the industry in the main nomination "Game of the Year" was won by the French project Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The French game set a TGA record by receiving 10 nominations out of 12 possible and winning 9 of them, including Game of the Year.
