Two Chinese robots broke the world record of the legendary Usain Bolt in the 100-meter dash

Thus, according to Reuters, he broke the world record among men at this distance, set by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
Tiangong Ultra was developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. Interestingly, Tiangong Ultra’s main rival — another robot, Honor Lightning — also broke Usain Bolt’s record.
Lightning finished with a time of 9.47 seconds, which is also faster than Bolt’s record of 9.58 seconds, set at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin.
At the same time, the robots lacked Bolt’s stopping prowess — they simply crashed into barriers.
It is worth noting that over the year, the work has shown huge progress compared to last year’s results. Last year, Tiangong Ultra was also the winner of similar competitions, but it took 21.50 seconds to cover 100 meters.
This year’s games brought together 2,056 robots from 666 teams from 16 countries and six continents, compared to 280 teams at the first event.
As dev.ua wrote, in China, robots are already monitoring traffic rules instead of police officers. Violators have received 170,000 warnings, but so far there have been no arrests.
