In May 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine launched a digital consular representative, Victoria Shi. This pilot project was designed to provide operational commentary for Ukrainian and foreign journalists. But it seems that the media representatives did not appreciate it.
The MFA digital spokesperson, Victoria Shi, was created based on a real person — Ukrainian singer and influencer Rosalie Nombre. It was planned that the AI avatar's comments would appear on the MFA's official resources, website, and social media pages, and would also be shared with journalists by the MFA's press service.
Since the May 1, 2024, note with the participation of Victoria Shi, 11 comments have been created on the ministry's website, the last one was published on October 11, 2024 regarding a road accident in Poland.
"The creation of the project was aimed at creating a tool for providing operational video comments for Ukrainian and foreign journalists, primarily television journalists, on consular issues. At the same time, we note that during the implementation of the project, it did not receive the expected interest from media representatives, which was associated with the decline in its use," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to a request from Ukrainy Noviny.
The ministry notes that the pilot project was implemented without any use of budget funds.
