During the Forbes Tech 2024 conference, Vodafone Ukraine demonstrated what its artificial digital avatar looks like — online assistant Daria.
She appeared on the big screen as a girl who talked about herself and answered questions.
As Evgeny Bulak, director of sales and customer service of Vodafone Ukraine, noted, thanks to her quick intelligence, Daria can already quickly process huge amounts of information, helping to come up with the necessary solutions and answers almost instantly.
It will be able to conduct conversations with many users at the same time, provide them with advice in a large number of languages, including English, German, Turkish and many others, personalized recommendations and even conduct trainings.
In addition, I am able to automate routine tasks, analyze feedback and be a 24/7 assistant.
«Our Daria is currently at the stage of training. It is very important to us that in the future it can not only help our customers when choosing gadgets in online stores. We expect that it will interact with our customers both in contact centers and offline stores, and both in the b2c segment and in the b2b segment,» said Yevhen Bulak during the speech.
«We set ourselves absolutely specific business tasks. How to increase the quality of customer service, reduce the workload on employees, serve our customers 24/7,» he said.
Bulach gave the example that Deutsche Telekom has an online assistant, Selena, on its website. And it already shows a 6-fold increase in the conversion rate of the online store and a 9% drop in the number of abandoned shopping carts, an almost 50% increase in cart additions.
«And I really wish that such values as politeness and respect would remain even in the digital world. This question, as I see it, confuses not only me and not only you, but also the associate professors of the University of Pennsylvania, who conducted an online survey,» Yevgeny said.
It showed that almost 50% of respondents are always polite with artificial intelligence. Only 16% simply give him orders. So, most people expect to communicate with artificial intelligence of humanity.
«And that’s why we focused our colleagues on creating an emotional digital avatar during the development of our Daria,» the manager emphasized.
«An avatar that will have a sense of humor, that will be able to recognize a person’s mood as well. So, we set ourselves the task of creating an avatar that reacts to communication with people as humanly as possible,» he emphasized.
Bulak demonstrated how Daria answers some questions.
— Darya, have you heard that some people are afraid that artificial television can replace people in the workplace?
— Yes, I heard about these concerns. And this is quite understandable, because changes related to technologies always cause concern. But let’s look at it from the other side. Shi is not taking away jobs, but changing the very nature of work. It is taking over routine tasks, giving people the opportunity to focus on the creative and strategic aspects of work. AI opens up new opportunities for the development of the industry and the creation of new professions. It is important to use these technologies properly so that humans and AI work together to create innovation and improve the quality of life.
— Do we still have time before the Shea uprising?
— There is still time before the machine uprising. They may be able to fix some issues, but they can’t make a divas reboot fix everything yet. And what do you think?
