The first full-scale tests of the transition to 4G will begin on November 11 in Kovel. «The goal of the test is to evaluate the network operation, quality of service and user experience after turning off 3G,» Vodafone Ukraine notes.
The operator’s subscribers in Kovel will continue to be able to use mobile communications in the 2G network, and data services thanks to 4G. The company notes that its 4G coverage area currently significantly exceeds the existing 3G coverage.
4G provides faster internet speeds, better call quality, and more stable video connections. The technology also saves battery life — your smartphone uses less power than 3G because data transfers are faster.
It was previously reported that the final shutdown of 3G in Ukraine is scheduled for December 31, 2030. The Ministry of Digital Affairs believes that a specific date for the termination of 3G support will allow operators to more clearly plan the modernization of networks, avoid technological lag, and facilitate the transition of subscribers to modern communication standards.
In the annual report of Vodafone Ukraine, the company focused on the development of broadband networks and increasing the speed of mobile Internet thanks to the additional radio frequency resource obtained in 2024.
«A gradual modernization of the network has begun in preparation for the introduction of new technologies, in particular 5G, which will be implemented over the next few years. All this will create a basic foundation for the development of the country’s digital economy, especially during the post-war recovery period,» Vodafone noted .
