“They hid, took out their equipment, reconnected at night – and that’s it.” The People’s Deputy reassured – most internet providers prepared for Russian attacks
People’s Deputy Oleksandr Fedienko is convinced that most Ukrainian Internet operators are taking or have already taken urgent measures to preserve their equipment and have moved it from their official legal addresses.
People’s Deputy Oleksandr Fedienko is convinced that most Ukrainian Internet operators are taking or have already taken urgent measures to preserve their equipment and have moved it from their official legal addresses.
The head of the subcommittee on cyber security, government communications, and cryptographic information protection of the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said this in a comment to Liga.Net.
"They won’t tell anyone where, and that’s right. They hid, took out their equipment, reconnected at night, and that’s it," the deputy believes.
According to him, risks for the industry remain, but Ukraine has an extensive network of telecommunications operators, so it will be problematic for the enemy to destroy it.
Fedienko added that Internet providers, as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, managed to adapt to any conditions, because their own government did not support and protect them too much, rather the opposite.
"These small and medium-sized businesses were once tried to be destroyed by the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service. They provide services and quickly recover," he said.
The deputy also predicted an increase in the price of fixed Internet services for Ukrainians.
"I think that the Internet should cost at least 500–600 UAH per month. 100–300 UAH is, I apologize, some kind of package of "poor operators" who don’t care about service and facilities," he concluded.
We will remind you that President Zelenskyy reported that during the Stavka, decisions were discussed on protecting Ukrainian data centers from enemy attacks.
As dev.ua wrote, in recent days Russia has been systematically attacking telecom industry facilities. For example, the Russian army damaged the Protasov Business Park building, where the Cosmonova data center is located.
