"We need to make transparent rules." Fire Point co-owner speaks out in favor of arms exports
Chief designer and co-owner of Ukrainian miltech company Fire Point, Denis Shtilerman, supports the idea of opening up the export of Ukrainian weapons. However, this should happen according to clear rules and only after the needs of the Defense Forces are met first.
Chief designer and co-owner of Ukrainian miltech company Fire Point, Denis Shtilerman, supports the idea of opening up the export of Ukrainian weapons. However, this should happen according to clear rules and only after the needs of the Defense Forces are met first.
He said this during a joint stream with volunteer and advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhiy Sternenko.
According to Stillerman, the ability to sell technology abroad is critically important for companies that are able to produce more than the state or funds order from them. At the same time, supplying the state should remain a priority.
Stillerman proposes to abandon complex bureaucratic procedures in favor of a fixed export duty for all producers (for example, 10%, 20% or 30%). If a company confirms the fulfillment of its domestic obligations to the front, it should be able to export the surplus without hindrance.
"First, you fulfilled the orders that came to you from our partners for the Defense Forces. And then you can export everything you have, all the leftovers that you can produce. This is very important. We need to make some transparent rules that will be very easy. Just keep some kind of duty of 10%, 20%, 30% the same for everyone. You confirmed, you produced everything, everything, export, please," said the chief designer of Fire Point.
The developer also shared details about specific requests that the company periodically receives. Often, foreigners ask to sell them meager batches of equipment - for example, 10 FP-1s or four Flamingos.
Fire Point understands perfectly well that such volumes are ordered not for combat operations, but for reverse engineering - to disassemble Ukrainian drones down to the last detail and copy technological solutions.
"Well, everything is clear. I say: 'Let me show you my design documentation so you don't have to disassemble it there. Then, if you can make it yourself, do it,'" Shtilerman ironically comments on such requests.
Previously, Denis Shtilerman revealed details of the new FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles and when to expect their combat use.
