The layoffs come after the e-commerce platform posted a loss in the first quarter of this year and invested in artificial intelligence tools amid growing pressure to cut redundant positions in the AI era, The Times of Israel reported .
Over the past year, Wix acquired Israeli AI app startup Base44 and local startup Hour One to strengthen its website and content creation capabilities with AI-powered video generation and other tools.
Founded in 2006, Wix is one of Israel’s flagship technology companies, trading on the Nasdaq with a market capitalization of approximately $2.2 billion. As of the end of March, Wix employed 5,277 people in 17 countries, of which over 60% are based in Israel.
As of January 2026, according to DOU data, the company’s Ukrainian staff numbers over 750 specialists and is among the TOP 50 largest IT companies in Ukraine.
At the time of writing, there are 19 vacancies open on DOU: the most recent one is from May 21, the oldest one is from April 27. Almost all offers indicate the location as Kyiv, as well as Lviv and Krakow. The company is currently looking for engineers, analysts, designers, etc.
The expansion of the team in Ukraine was announced this month by Wix Vice President of Engineering Aviran Mordo in an interview with DOU.
The Israeli publication has not yet received any comments from Wix.
The press office of the Ukrainian hub told dev.ua that the company is not currently offering any official comment on this decision. The editors will update the article as new details emerge.
