"X is working on a 'Made with AI' tag! Soon, users will be able to mark their posts as AI-generated content. Most likely, after this feature launches, ignoring the tag will be a violation of X's rules," Ovji wrote in X.
Nikita Beer, head of product at X, said that people come to social media to find out real user opinions, so AI-tagged content is critical to maintaining the platform's value in the long term.
“There is nothing more disturbing than thinking you are reading the words of a human being, only to discover that it was a machine or an account acting on the instructions of an undisclosed commercial or government entity. In the era of artificial intelligence, our products, policies and approaches must evolve significantly. Some steps may prove ineffective, but we intend to use all available tools and strategies to protect this ‘global city square,’” Beer wrote in his post on X.
As for human authors who use AI to improve their texts, this issue remains undecided. As well as for those who use chatbots for automated translation of posts.
The move could be a response to Indian authorities' orders requiring social media platforms to implement content verification systems such as C2PA, The Verge reports . By the way, X abandoned this standard shortly after Elon Musk took over as CEO.
