Preliminary design shots show a clean, minimalist interface: a kind of iMessage simplicity combined with Telegram's functional richness: there are elements of message threads, a layout with an emphasis on media files, and, apparently, a separate space for voice and audio messages.
There's nothing revolutionary about these previews, but perhaps that's by design. It seems like XChat is designed to be as user-friendly and intuitive as possible for anyone who already uses instant messaging.
What makes this launch strategically interesting is its timing for the large-scale implementation of payments services on X. Musk has openly stated his desire to turn X into a financial platform, and a separate messenger creates a more direct channel for this. P2P payments integrated directly into the chat feel natural — unlike payments hidden somewhere in the social network’s feed, where they never felt organic.
