"I understand that you want to collect as many taxes as possible on various "e-thousands", but it's not worth slowing down the economy." Popereshnyuk on Hetmantsev's initiative to tax parcels

Co-owner of Nova Poshta Volodymyr Popereshnyuk criticized the initiative of the head of the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danylo Hetmantsev, regarding stricter taxation of all foreign parcels.
«I understand that you want to collect as many taxes as possible on various „e-thousands“, but it is not worth slowing down the economy,» Popereshnyuk emphasized in his Facebook post.
The co-owner of the NP expressed a number of arguments against Hetmantsev’s initiative. We quote:
Preventing people from exchanging cheap goods is preventing them from lifting themselves out of poverty. The cheaper it is for people to import foreign goods, the more of their own problems they will solve in our already difficult times.
It will not be possible to avoid rising prices and weakening the purchasing power of millions.
A huge number of components for drones, electronic warfare systems, electronic warfare systems, and other means for defenders also fall within the 150 euro limit, so this will also be a blow to the country’s defense capabilities.
Another reason why this is a ridiculous idea is the complexity of the customs clearance process. The adoption of the law will not only slow down and reduce the flow of cheap goods, but also will not bring any benefit to the budget. After all, the costs of customs processes will exceed the revenues from them
As dev.ua reported, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, announced that he had submitted two draft laws for registration in the Verkhovna Rada on taxation of almost all parcels from abroad.
The legislative changes are planned to introduce two important innovations:
Ukrainians can receive goods worth up to 45 euros without VAT, provided that such goods are sent to their address by individuals without any payment and without commercial purpose;
Goods purchased on marketplaces or other similar platforms are subject to VAT regardless of their value. However, import duties on such goods will only be charged if their value exceeds 150 euros.
Let us recall that back in September, Danylo Hetmantsev announced that the parliament was working on a bill to abolish customs privileges for international parcels.
Meest Group believes that because of this, the international parcel market could fall by 30%.
