A new Ukrainian social network without Russians and bots. Registration only through "Diya". Here's what we learned about the Odessa project YEDNÁ

«Forget about unreal users. At YEDNÁ you communicate only with real Ukrainians,» the project description on the website says .

The developers report that during registration, users go to «Actions» and confirm their identity using Action.Signature.

«After successful verification, we only receive your full name and TIN (Tax Identification Number) — this is the only personal information the platform stores,» the developers write.

Rumors immediately spread in the comments that if authorization is done through «Diya», then we may be talking about a state messenger, an analogue of the Russian Max. Although, as it turned out, this version has nothing to do with reality.

In one of the threads, Diya commented that it only provides a technical opportunity for verification in this application. «You confirm your identity in Diya, and you receive the services in the application itself,» its comment reads.

Content on the network is displayed by geolocation to tie the feed to a specific city.

«Meetings, events, recommendations — everything comes from neighbors, not algorithms,» the creators emphasize.

The first city is Odesa. The project is planned to be expanded to the entire country. The application is already available for download in the App Store. An Android version is in development.

There is little information about the developers themselves. On the site you can find the Terms of Use, which lists the individual entrepreneur number. It belongs to Igor Maguryan from Odessa. The individual entrepreneur was registered in May 2022.

A dev.ua journalist contacted Igor at the address provided on the website. He answered several of our questions. We are publishing the answers as they are.

— Who is the founder of the project? What is his background? Why did you decide to launch YEDNA?

— Founder: Igor, a developer from Odessa with experience in mobile development. The idea arose from a simple problem: in popular social networks Threads, Instagram, Telegram there is a huge number of fake accounts, bots and AI-content. You no longer understand whose content you are watching and who you are communicating with. Plus endless conflicts between Ukrainians and Russians. It is impossible to create multiple accounts in YEDNÁ, there can be no Russians or bots here, only real people, only Ukrainians.

— How many people are in the YEDNA team?

— The team is small: 2 people at the start, iOS and backend development.

— How much have you invested in the project and do you plan to invest?

— The project is financed by our own funds and personal time, there are no external investments. If the MVP shows interest from users, we will consider attracting investments. Retaining users is the most difficult task today.

— How many users do you want to attract this year, in which cities?

— Odesa is the first city for testing MVP: ideas, code, functionality. If we launch all cities at once, users will download the application and see empty feeds. We want to first build a living community in one city, and then scale.

— Why did you decide that authentication would go through Diya? By the way, how did you agree with Diya on integration?

— Diya is the only simple and reliable way to verify that the user is indeed a citizen of Ukraine. Integration takes place on the basis of the Agreement on Connecting the Information and Communication System to the Diya Portal within the Diya ID project.
