YEP Accelerator has announced a competition for the position of Chief Innovation Officer, who will lead the transformation of the innovation ecosystem of the Kyiv Aviation Institute.
YEP Accelerator has announced a competition for the position of Chief Innovation Officer, who will lead the transformation of the innovation ecosystem of the Kyiv Aviation Institute.
According to the press service, the new C-level role should unite existing innovation areas, form a holistic system of work with technological developments, and help university teams bring their solutions to the market faster.
It is also reported that the position of Chief Innovation Officer is being created for the first time in the history of public higher education institutions.
«The future head will be responsible for forming a single innovation vertical of the university: developing a startup ecosystem, coordinating the work of laboratories and innovation units, developing mechanisms for commercializing scientific developments, working with intellectual property, as well as attracting grant, venture and corporate financing,» the press service said in a statement.
The first stage of the CIO’s work will be to audit the university’s innovation assets, establish interaction between teams, and build an effective innovation management system. In the future, he will work on developing an entrepreneurial culture at the university, launching new innovation programs, and creating conditions for the emergence of university startups and spin-offs.
«The introduction of the CIO role at KAI is part of a broader YEP Accelerator initiative to form a new model of university innovation management in Ukraine. The pilot, supported by Nova Ukraine, at KAI should establish an approach that can be further scaled through a network of startup schools — incubators — accelerators, created by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Startup Fund,» the press release states.
