The Defense Procurement Agency DOT reported on the first year of operation of the DOT-Chain Defence IT system. During this time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine received more than 1.2 million drones and other assets worth UAH 69.2 billion, and the average delivery time for weapons from manufacturers' warehouses was reduced from months to weeks.
For comparison, during the seven months of DOT-Chain Defence's work, the military received 500,000 items worth UAH 23.3 billion.
Recall that the DOT-Chain Defence project started as a pilot for 12 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with several dozen FPV drone models a year ago. Currently, the system serves 486 combat units of all Security and Defense Forces.
The catalog includes 1,181 items from 300 manufacturers. The assortment includes all major types of unmanned systems, ammunition for them, and electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
The platform fundamentally changed the approach to providing the army: combat units were able to independently choose what weapons they needed, completely bypassing traditional bureaucracy.
Ordering weapons no longer requires reports or lengthy approvals from "above." The serviceman makes a few clicks in the system, after which the Defense Procurement Agency takes over all bureaucratic procedures and payment, and the order is sent directly to the unit.
Ukraine's experience in digitalizing defense procurement is already being studied by international partners, including the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Moreover, NATO, France, and the United States have already announced the launch of their own analogues of similar drone marketplaces.
"At the same time, Russian military and propaganda resources are increasingly analyzing DOT-Chain Defence as one of the reasons for the rapid development of Ukrainian defense technologies. So tangible that Russia has already announced the launch of its own analogue of the Ukrainian military marketplace," the Defense Procurement Agency noted .
