With the participation of the Renault concern, France wants to "copy" the Ukrainian Flamingo missile. What is known about this?
French companies Turgis Gaillard and Renault are participating in the development of the Chorus cruise missile, which is an analogue of the Ukrainian Flamingo.
French companies Turgis Gaillard and Renault are participating in the development of the Chorus cruise missile, which is an analogue of the Ukrainian Flamingo.
This is reported by «Military» with reference to the French publication Zone Militare.
The missile, developed with the participation of the aforementioned French enterprises, will have a warhead of 500 kg and a flight range of up to 3,000 km, and the cost of the product, according to forecasts, should be about 100,000 euros.
At the same time, the French defense ministry directly admits that Chorus is a direct analogue of the Ukrainian Flamingo.
«Regarding drones and remotely controlled munitions, within the framework of the Chorus program, implemented jointly with Renault and Turgis Gaillard, we intend to develop an analogue of the Ukrainian Flamingo missile,» said General Delegate for Armaments Patrick Payu at a meeting of the French Senate.
In addition, it is known that France apparently does not plan to purchase large batches of Chorus missiles, and the program is aimed at testing Renault’s capabilities in terms of mass production of missile weapons if necessary.
Meanwhile, the chief designer and co-owner of the Ukrainian miltech company Fire Point, Denis Shtilerman, supports the idea of opening the export of Ukrainian weapons. However, in his opinion, this should happen according to clear rules and only after the priority needs of the Defense Forces are met.
