Ukrainians will be able to prohibit themselves from taking out loans. The service will be available in "Diya"

People’s Deputy Olga Vasylevska-Smaglyuk spoke about the introduction of a self-prohibition mechanism for obtaining loans in Ukraine. This will help combat fraudsters who issue loans to people without their knowledge.
Vasylevska-Smaglyuk recalled that last year, a draft law on credit history bureaus was adopted, which provides for the launch of a self-prohibition mechanism for obtaining loans in Ukraine.
«Everyone who does not want their financial data to be used by third parties and receive loans based on them will be able to block the issuance of loans by clicking one button in „Actions“ or writing an application to the Central Bank. After that, information about self-prohibition will be included in the register, which, according to our expectations, will be maintained by the National Bank,» the politician said.
She explained that then the credit bureau will understand when a person does not want to take out loans themselves and does not want loans taken out on their behalf. This will help fight fraudsters who apply for loans on behalf of other people.
According to Olga Vasilevska-Smaglyuk, such a function will be relevant for military personnel who are in combat zones and sometimes lose their phones or go missing. Then their phones are used by fraudsters who, having gained access to online banking, take out loans.
The deputy emphasized that when the bill passes its second reading and begins to work, it will be «much more difficult for criminals to implement fraudulent schemes in the lending sector.»
«If you receive a push in Diya that a new loan has been taken out for you, but you did not open it, you can immediately follow the link to the Ukrainian Bureau of Credit Histories from the application and write a complaint. And if you see a notification that the bank, for example, is checking your credit history to open a new loan, you can quickly react and contact the institution to clarify the details,» the Ministry of Digital Affairs explained.
«It’s like publishing your credit card details.» South Korea’s tax office «gave» $4.8 million in crypto to scammers by sending out a press release with sensitive data
Phone scammers stole almost half a million hryvnias from a Kyiv woman. She transferred the money to a «white card» with her own hands. And now monobank is still charging interest on the loan
