Ukrainian developer creates AI salary estimator. How does "Zarplatometer" work, which humorously analyzes income and delivers its verdict?
AI Engineer from ROCKETS and Frontend Developer Serhiy Sidletsky created «Salarymeter» — an AI service that, in a humorous way, helps to assess how much the salary corresponds to the market. According to the developer, the service «does not claim to be the absolute truth, but can be a reason to smile, think, or even finally ask for a raise.» The plans are to turn «Salarymeter» from an entertainment tool into a practical assistant, where AI will play the role of a career consultant.
«Recently, news rarely gives people positive emotions. So I wanted to create something light, useful, and something that would make people smile at least for a few minutes. Salary is a topic that everyone in Ukraine thinks about, but few people talk about openly. It seemed like the perfect point for irony — to take something familiar to everyone and turn it into an easy, recognizable experience,» Serhiy Sidletsky told dev.ua.
How does «Zarplatometr» work?
«Salarymeter» is an AI analysis of salary and profession online.
The principle of operation of «Zarplatometer» is very simple.
First, the user enters their monthly salary (gross or net) and selects a field of activity.
Next, a two-stage AI analysis is launched: first, the system turns to the Perplexity search model, which finds current data on the labor market, and then Gemini creates a personalized response with a touch of humor.
In parallel, the entered amount is compared with the latest official statistics of the State Statistics Service (currently April 2026): the minimum wage, the average in Ukraine and Kyiv, as well as the average in the IT sector.
The comparison result is displayed on an interactive scale. The user can rate the analysis, share it with friends, and write their own review if the AI did not accurately determine the profession.
The role of AI
As Serhiy Sidletsky explained, AI plays a dual role.
First, a prototype of the service itself was built using the Lovable AI constructor in less than an hour.
Secondly, AI is the heart of the product: it performs analysis, forms conclusions, and adds a touch of humor.
«To simplify the use of multiple AI models in one project, we use OpenRouter: the Perplexity Sonar model to find relevant market context, and Google Gemini to generate ironic analysis. These models work in conjunction with each user request,» the developer added.
What’s next?
«Salarymeter» became part of Dopamine Market because it fits the concept of the project. In the first week, the service was tested 271 times, and after updating the algorithm and expanding the list of professions, it receives mostly positive feedback.
The plans include updating statistics based on the latest data from the State Statistics Service and improving algorithms based on feedback. In addition, a block with 5–10 current vacancies from Work.ua and robota.ua will be added to the results page.
Serhiy Sidletsky aims to turn «Zarplatometr» from an entertainment tool into a practical assistant. To do this, AI will act as a career consultant: it will provide personalized advice on improving skills to increase income, analyze promising areas and the difference in salaries by region.
The main goal is for the user to leave the site not only with a smile, but also with a clear plan on how to earn more.

Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
