From TikTok to a Ready-Made Menu: How the Ukrainian AI App Zastillya Automates Saving Recipes, Tracks Calories & Macros, and Assembles Your Grocery Basket
A Ukrainian indie developer under the nickname san_vanych (San) on Threads created the mobile application "Zastillya" - a digital culinary assistant that uses artificial intelligence to save recipes from social networks, automatically calculates the nutritional value of food, and forms a shopping list for supermarkets.
The application has already gained popularity among users and even in September took first place in the "Food & Drink" category in the Ukrainian App Store, ahead of such giants as McDonald's, Bolt Food, and KFC.
From TikTok videos to a formed basket in Silpo
The main goal of "Feast" is to relieve users of the routine of saving recipes and planning menus. The application allows you to turn chaotic saves on social networks into a structured cookbook in 15 seconds.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, Feast supports importing from 7 different sources: TikTok, Instagram (Reels), YouTube, websites, photos (e.g. cookbook pages), videos, and notes. The AI automatically listens to the video's voiceover, reads captions, and generates a step-by-step recipe with a list of ingredients.
"I made "Zastilya" collect your basket at "Silpo" for you. I entered the recipes, the app added all the ingredients, and then also selected specific products with prices. Minimum routine, maximum time for just eating deliciously," says the developer.
Key features of the application
Automatic calculation of KBV: AI calculates calories, proteins, fats and carbohydrates for each recipe, taking into account the serving size.
Smart shopping list: ingredients from different dishes are summed up, grouped by categories and allow you to compare prices in stores.
Integration with Silpo: the ability to automatically create a basket with specific products and immediately order products.
Menu planning and cooking mode: The app helps you create a meal plan for the week, and while cooking, it offers a convenient, non-fading screen with large text and built-in timers.
Chart success and user recognition
According to the developer, the Threads community played a key role in promoting the project, where he shared the development process.
"A week ago, it ranked first in the "Food & Drink" category in the Ukrainian App Store. It beat McDonald's, Bolt Food, and KFC — I still can't believe it. And in the last two weeks, the app has appeared 300 times in the charts of 13 countries. This is thanks to you, Threads. I am sincerely grateful to you," shared san_vanych.
Currently, "Zastillia" has an average rating of 5.0 stars in the App Store . The application is available for iPhone and iPad. The basic functionality (saving recipes, shopping list and cooking mode) is completely free and does not contain ads, while advanced features - AI import, calculation of KBZHV and integration with supermarket prices - are available with a Premium subscription.
