BlueBird Tech said that this initiative is integrated into the state strategy for deploying the production of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems. Currently, the manufacturer has already begun actively hiring specialized engineers and specialists from the aerospace industry.
The main goal of the project is to create cheaper and more mass-produced analogues of Western weapons, the supply of which is often limited. BlueBird Tech believes that the experience of scaling the UAV market can be transferred to rocketry.
«Having a neighbor like Russia, Ukraine must be ready to repel air attacks at any time. To do this effectively, we must rely on our own forces. The means the company is working on will make life in Ukraine safer, in particular, in terms of protection against Russian shelling. In addition, our own production of air defense missiles will be able to make it cheaper to shoot down air targets compared to the analogues we receive,» said BlueBird Tech co-founder Valery Zarubin.
In addition to air defense systems, the company is developing several other areas of rocketry, but their technical specifications and purpose are currently being kept secret for security reasons.
«We aim to change the very philosophy of rocketry. This has already happened before in the drone market — they became massive and cheap precisely thanks to the deep strategy of Ukrainian manufacturers. Currently, the main challenge is to rethink the cost of expensive missiles and transition to affordable production in large volumes at local facilities,» explains Zarubin.
The first results of the work of the BlueBird Tech rocket department are expected to be demonstrated in the coming years.
Recall that last week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he was negotiating with European countries to jointly develop a high-tech air defense system like the Patriot, which would shoot down ballistic missiles.
Previously, BlueBird Tech developed a new repeater «Vishchun-P» to protect the signal of FPV drones. It is compatible with all current UAVs of the Defense Forces.
