He announced this following a conference call. According to him, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided a separate report on the use of equipment in units. The military notes that in various areas of the front, terminals stop functioning when the speed reaches 130–161 km/h.
"This slows down our front-line logistics and limits the use of drones of various types, primarily mid-strikes and Shahed jet interceptors. Today, this must be discussed again with partners at all levels," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine reported that the reduction in the speed threshold was a "very unpleasant and dangerous surprise" for the Ukrainian military. He specified that to intercept enemy drones moving at speeds over 400 km/h, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use special high-speed JEDI Shahed Hunter interceptor drones equipped with Starlink terminals. At the same time, due to the restrictions, the communication speed for Ukrainian terminals in some cases dropped to 70 km/h.
Volodymyr Zelensky also reported that Ukraine conducted its own check to find out whether Elon Musk’s SpaceX company really has technical problems with the Starlink connection, or whether this is a deliberate restriction for the Ukrainian military.
