Public company ZenaTech opens AI drone production in Ukraine. Will make $5,000 interceptors for the US Army

North American technology company ZenaTech (traded on Nasdaq), specializing in AI drones, SaaS and quantum computing, is officially entering Ukraine. The company announced the launch of local production of drones to supply them to the US defense agencies and the Persian Gulf countries.

What exactly will they produce?

The main focus of the Ukrainian enterprise will be the assembly of the Interceptor P-1 — a disposable interceptor drone (in fact, a kamikaze drone for combating enemy UAVs).

The main feature of the development is cost-effectiveness. The company notes that such a drone will cost less than $5,000. It is positioned as an ultra-cheap alternative to traditional interceptor missiles, which are usually used to destroy enemy targets.

Why did you choose Ukraine?

ZenaTech calls Ukraine a strategic location for several reasons. First, it is an ideal testing ground for real-world war conditions. Second, it has a favorable production economy. But the most important thing is the powerful expertise of Ukrainian specialists.

«Ukraine is both a strategic production base and a real-world testing ground for UAV technologies. Our autonomous interceptor drones are designed specifically for the modern battlefield. We intend to become the leading provider of counter-UAV solutions for the US Department of Defense and our partners in the Gulf countries,» said ZenaTech CEO Shaun Passley.

Who are they looking for and what are their plans?

The company is currently actively expanding its operations. ZenaTech is consulting with lawyers on export control so that UAVs assembled in Ukraine can be legally supplied to allies.

The startup has also already started hiring in Ukraine: they are looking for qualified engineers and technical specialists for production. So new jobs will appear for domestic IT professionals and engineers.

Reference: ZenaTech has been operating on the market since 2017. The company has offices in North America, Europe, Taiwan and the UAE. Their subsidiary ZenaDrone produces a whole line of UAVs: large cargo/agro drones ZenaDrone 1000 (also used by the military), miniature IQ Nano for warehouse logistics, IQ Square for cleaning and inspections, and IQ Quad for mapping.
