8 candidates are running for the position of President of the KAI: who are they?

The acceptance of documents for participation in the competition for the position of President of the State University "Kyiv Aviation Institute" (KAI, formerly - NAU) has been completed.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the KAI Petro Chernyshov.

8 candidates will participate in the competition, 6 of whom have agreed to have their names made public.

As Chernyshov explains, not disclosing their names is the legal right of the participants. “The reasons are absolutely logical: the desire to avoid unnecessary pressure at work, the reluctance to prematurely publicize among colleagues or partners, as well as the desire to avoid conjecture and speculation until the moment when their participation becomes effective,” adds the Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

The names of all finalists will be announced later.

So, today there are 6 known participants:

  • Andriy Andrikevich is the head of the industry committee of the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry, previously a lecturer in strategic management at Visotsky Consulting;
  • Yuriy Korolyov is an IT entrepreneur, employee of AJAX; previously an associate professor at the University of Customs and Finance;
  • Oleksandr Korchenko — first vice-rector of the State University of Information Technology and Communications; previously — head of the department of information technology security at NAU;
  • Volodymyr Ksenich is the head of the NGO "Red Huber"; previously, he was the representative of Ukraine in the European Students' Union;
  • Ksenia Semenova — Acting President of KAI; previously — Vice-Rector for Innovations of KAI.
  • Serhiy Tovkach is an associate professor at the Department of Automation and Energy Management at the Kyiv Institute of Technology; previously, he was an electronics engineer at Bogdan Motors.

The competition is held in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution "On the implementation of a pilot project on the development of the autonomy of some higher education institutions."

According to Chernyshov, interviews with candidates will take place by the end of August. Then the Supervisory Board will discuss each one and hold a secret vote. Whoever gets the majority will become the President.

"We want to behave like a proper Western corporation — by the way, when they hold a competition for the rector of a university, say in America — everything is the same as in a corporation. Let's just learn the right standards," notes the Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
