Salesforce recently rebranded many of its products and services as Agentforce. Sales is now called Agentforce Sales, services are called Agentforce Service, and the platform is called Agentforce 365 Platform, Business Insider reports.
Salesforce employees have been saying, half-jokingly, that the company could change its official name to Agentforce. That was said partly in jest. However, in an interview with Benioff on Wednesday night, the CEO confirmed that the possibility exists.
«Maybe. It wouldn’t surprise me,» Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff commented on the potential name change.
There have been several high-profile name changes in the tech industry in the past, as companies have emphasized a shift to new technologies or strategies. For example, Mark Zuckerberg changed the name of Facebook to Meta, and Google’s co-founders renamed the company to Alphabet.
Salesforce started out as a cloud company, so that term has been used to refer to many of its products: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud. But now customers don’t want to hear about the cloud anymore, Benioff says. Now, he says, they want to talk about artificial intelligence agents.
«I completely abandoned the word ‘cloud.’ I did it at Dreamforce. Did you notice I never used it in my speech? We learned in focus groups that customers don’t talk about the cloud anymore. They just want to talk about their agent interface,» said the Salesforce CEO.
Recall that in October, the company announced its new vibecoding product, Agentforce Vibes. This programming tool allows developers to work independently on Salesforce applications and agents, automatically performing a significant part of the technical tasks.
