Alibaba has introduced AI Chat Assistant, a new mode of artificial intelligence chatbot powered by the latest Qwen3 models.
The Quark AI chat assistant is free and integrated into the Quark app. It allows users to access a chatbot interface for text or voice communication, providing real-time information and services, Alibaba said .
Alibaba's AI efforts have largely focused on enterprise customers through its cloud services division. This latest move is another attempt to attract consumers in a market where the company has struggled to market its AI assistant Tongyi.
Despite the fact that Tongyi was one of the first consumer AI assistants released by Chinese companies in late 2023, it failed to gain widespread adoption, Reuters writes .
The company noted that Quark AI offers advanced reasoning, understanding, and execution capabilities.
“By downloading the latest version of the Quark app for iOS and Android, users can switch to the Quark AI chat assistant mode by selecting “assistant” directly in the Quark AI Super Box or by swiping right on the screen for quick access to the chat interface. With this new feature, Quark provides a dual mechanism that combines AI search and conversation. This provides a full AI experience that both instantly provides the information you need and allows for deeper exploration,” the company said in a statement.
In addition to Q&A features, Quark AI offers other capabilities, including deep search, AI-powered photo-based tasks, and AI-powered text writing. The assistant also supports multimodal interactions, such as image editing, AI camera, calling, and one-tap data saving.
