He said this at the forum «Ukraine. Year 2025» on Sunday, answering questions from journalists, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
«Regarding Starlink… We are already working on this, there are alternatives. We are not disclosing it, but soon, together with the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Ministry of Stratprom and our other colleagues from the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, we will announce how we will have these solutions. But there is already a solution, there is an alternative,» the Minister of Defense assured.
In turn, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, stated that as of now, no systematic work is being done to block Starlink in Ukraine.
«And vice versa, from a week and a half ago until now, there have been cases of blocking the so-called „gray“ Starlinks in the area of the combat zone, the collision zone from the Russian side. Such cases really do exist and they are far from isolated. There were days when entire units were shut down,» he explained.
As previously reported, the terminals of Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system for Ukraine were purchased by Poland, which continues to pay a subscription fee for them. Therefore, according to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland, Krzysztof Gawkowski, their disconnection would be a violation of the business contract and is unlikely.
As dev.ua wrote, Elon Musk himself denied media reports about the possible shutdown of Starlink if Ukraine does not sign an agreement on minerals.
