Anthropic has updated Claude, adding new features for direct document creation.
The new feature is currently available in beta for users of Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, VentureBeat writes .
The feature will soon be available to Pro users. Once activated, users will be able to create Excel spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and PDFs similar to what they do in PowerPoint.
Claude creates files using both uploaded data and information obtained during research.
Can transform data into analytical insights, taking “raw” information and producing “polished results with cleaned data, statistical analysis, charts, and written analysis.” Can also create spreadsheets that contain financial models, scenario tracking tools, budget templates, and more, with working formulas and multiple sheets.
Users can also upload one type of file and ask Claude to create another based on its contents.
For example, a business analyst can upload a spreadsheet and then ask Claude to convert the data from it into a PDF report.
Claude uses a virtual private computing environment to create documents at the user's request.
“We gave Claude access to a private computing environment where he can write code and run programs to generate the files and analytics you need,” the Anthropic blog explained. “This allows Claude to move from a simple consultant role to an active partner. You define the strategy and context, and Claude is responsible for the technical execution.”
