Ukrainian developer launches AVTONOMER AI cloud service for intelligent license plate recognition
Ukrainian developer Ivan Drobot has introduced the AVTONOMER AI service — a cloud-based license plate recognition platform that allows you to turn regular IP cameras into an access control system without using local servers. The program automatically records the entry and exit of vehicles, recognizes the characteristics of the car, and stores the data in the cloud.
The developer announced the launch of the project on the Reddit platform, where he presented the system’s capabilities and asked for feedback from the IT community.
During the discussion, users noted that similar functionality could be implemented using a combination of OpenCV and Tesseract libraries, expressing doubts about the need to use complex artificial intelligence models. In response, Ivan Drobot explained that classic tools have significant limitations.
«Yes, OpenCV + Tesseract can be used. But they work well mainly on clean and smooth frames. My task was different: very high accuracy in real conditions — night, movement, angle, rain, small number in the frame, headlight glare,» the developer noted. He also added that AVTONOMER AI is primarily a ready-made «turnkey» service that includes an event log, analytics, a web cabinet, and quick connection of any IP camera.
The main feature of AVTONOMER AI is that there is no need for expensive local equipment, such as video recorders or server cabinets. The system only requires an IP camera and stable Internet access. Video stream processing and analytics are performed in the cloud based on the Google Cloud Storage infrastructure.
The system works in real time, ensuring license plate recognition even in difficult conditions. In addition to license plates, AI algorithms are able to determine the make, model and color of the car.
«AVTONOMER AI helps eliminate manual routine at checkpoints, reduce security errors, and obtain transparent accounting of transport in the territory,» notes the creator of the service.
The platform’s functionality includes:
automatic 24/7 event logging;
management of «white» and «black» lists to automate the access mode;
instant notifications about the appearance of specific numbers in the field of view of the cameras;
quick search in the archive by date, location or car parameters.
Currently, the developer offers three tariff plans, the cost of which varies from UAH 1,549 to UAH 4,425 per camera per month, depending on the depth of the archive and the detail of the analytics (from a simple photo of the event to saving video fragments and a full car profile for five years).

Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
