This was told by Oleg, a representative of the Ukrainian company TechEx, to Business Insider.
“I thought: how can you possibly place so many explosives on one FPV drone? But it was able to lift this load and complete the task,” said a company representative.
Every extra kilogram of explosives means the drone has to lift more weight. It is already carrying a battery, camera and other equipment. This is especially difficult for fiber-optic drones, as they also have a coil of cable through which the operator controls the drone.
TechEx has developed its own fiber-optic winding technology to make the coils lighter without losing the reliability of the connection. According to company representative Olga, even small changes in the design and method of winding the cable help reduce weight.
TechEx says they receive feedback from the military every day and update their products every week. Without such updates, according to Oleg, the drone could become obsolete in just three months.
The company also makes its drone parts interchangeable, allowing the military to simply repair damaged drones and assemble custom configurations that the manufacturer never even envisioned.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that the Ministry of Defense spoke about the Ukrainian fiber-optic drones Stalker XO-10 and XO-15 from TechEx. They are designed to operate in conditions of strong radio-electronic interference.
