Bornyakov said that mines with AI are being developed in Ukraine. They will "see" who is moving and will not trigger on children or UN representatives
According to Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov, Ukraine is working on creating mines with artificial intelligence that will be able to recognize those moving through a minefield.
According to Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov, Ukraine is working on creating mines with artificial intelligence that will be able to recognize those moving through a minefield.
Bornyakov said this in Odessa during the Black Sea Security Forum, UNIAN reports.
«For example, if artificial intelligence sees that someone is walking through a minefield, and this person is shorter than 1 meter, then the mine will not explode, because the AI understands that it is a child. Or, if the bulletproof vest says „UN“, then the mine will not work either. Or, if the person does not have anything metal with him, it will also not work, according to the assessment of artificial intelligence… I think it can work autonomously,» Bornyakov described the technology.
Thus, mines with integrated artificial intelligence will automatically determine who is approaching and whether to activate the explosive device.
As the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs noted, AI in such mines will identify targets not only at the «friend-or-foe» level, but will also specifically determine who is approaching the device — a child, an adult, a civilian, a military person, an armed person, etc.
