The Melnyk-Agro farm automated spraying, planting, and weeding in the greenhouse thanks to a robotic platform from the Mars rover.
Agro Times writes about this with reference to an article in the magazine "Gardening in Ukrainian".
"Our friends who work at Boston Dynamics offered us a platform from a Mars rover, on which we can place the appropriate units to perform all these works without running over a single plant," said Mykola Melnyk, founder of Melnyk-Agro.
"So far, we can use them simultaneously with people: they collect the products, and the platforms gradually take them out of the greenhouse. When the span of the greenhouse is 200 m, it is very difficult for the girls to carry full buckets," he explained.
Despite this, the farmer adds, there are still several unique types of work in the greenhouse that are difficult to replace with robots - tying, pruning, and breaking off, but later machines will be able to perform them.
According to the YouControl service, the company "Melnyk-Agro" has existed for almost five years and is registered in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi region. The company grows We grow in greenhouses and in open ground: cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, salads, greens and seedlings.
